Description:
Products made from racemic poly(lactic acid) with good biocompatibility are used as drug release carriers, which is encapsulating drugs within a polymer matrix to form microspheres or microparticles. Approved by the FDA, they can be used as excipients for injectables, microspheres, and implants . It can also be made into porous foam scaffolds for tissue engineering cell culture; as materials for bone fixation materials; surgical sutures and implantable plates and clamps. Besides these application, many product made by PDLLA are used as artificial skin and blood vessels, as well as ophthalmic implant materials for the retina.
